The Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Toronto Downtown receives mixed reviews, with guests praising its convenient location, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. However, concerns about noise levels, accessibility issues, and inconsistent housekeeping have been raised. Parking costs and a somewhat limited breakfast selection are also noted.
I had a perfectly good stay in every way! Comfortable beds, complimentary breakfast and wonderful staff! Extra special shout out to Valerie for going above and beyond as a fabulous front desk employee!! Truly made the trip extra wonderful. Also definitely check out Allan Gardens across the street - a great moment of respite during the Toronto winter
Pretty mediocre hotel in a great location. The rooms were average, the service was fine, but the accessibility is terrible. Only two, tiny elevators and stairs between the garage and elevators and between the elevators and lobby. Not great of you have a heavy suitcase and worse if you struggle with mobility.
Good hotel, super expensive parking ($200 4 nights) but nearby you can find cheaper. They offer daily housekeeping but for the 4 nights we stayed, we only received 1 day. Breakfast not good quality (expected for a Hilton hotel chain). Nice Location.
Rooms were clean and spacious, but the beds and very firm and the pillows are too soft. Check in/out was super quick and easy both took less than 5 minutes and staff were friendly. The location is pretty good you’re right off of Jarvis and pretty close to Union station but I wouldn’t say walking distance. Some other pros is it is a smaller hotel, only 10 stories plus underground parking so the rooms are on the bigger side. In the morning there is a standard breakfast you’d see in other hotels, nothing fancy about it. They also have a 24/7 coffee station in the lobby which was a nice surprise. Some cons are the elevators are small, you wouldn’t be able to get a wheelchair through the door. The rooms are really dark we had all the lights on and it was still pretty dark. Our window faced directly into the apartment building next door so you could see everyone. And finally the breakfast, as it was nothing fancy there wasn’t much that most people wouldn’t have on the regular for breakfast besides the waffles, which is not necessarily a bad thing but I grabbed an apple and it was rotten so I’m not sure how often they check on the fruits. Overall we didn’t spend much time in the hotel but what we did, we enjoyed for the most part other than some minor inconveniences.
Terrible place. I arrived to Toronto after a long flight, and all I needed was to sleep in a "Quiet" room. Unfortunately, the room was so "noisy". I could hear the room upstairs, when they were moving in their beds!! So everytime they were moving, there were sounds coming from the ceiling. When they were walking, I could hear also! It was like, there was a thin curtain between us, rather than a proper ceiling. To make things worse, I could hear them when using the bathroom or shower. That was so terrible. Even from hallway, I could hear everytime somebody was walking or talking. Things do not end here: the pips in the wall also make a loud sound. I was tired but kept on waking up by the sound. The next day I had an important meeting and this hotel night ruined my energy. The breakfast was also quite disappointing. The options were very limited. I paid $400 for a night, which is way more that what this hotel was worth.
Stayed this week and honestly was pretty disappointed. Cons: - Price/Value - $1000 for 2 nights (mon/tues) with taxes/fees. I did not debate the pricing at checkout as I had my son and he isnt very patient.. we were also switching hotels. - The entry stairwell reaked of urine when we arrived (this was rectified over night). - Booked a king bed for myself and 6 yr old son. When I arrived they tried to "upgrade" us to 2 queens with a better view... I booked a King, 4 months ago, anything less than a king is a downgrade. - At 10pm i had uber eats deliver food and when i went outside a prostitute tried to rush me..then turned around when she saw i was female. She lingered less than 10' from the bottom of the entry stairs. - I didn't expect turndown for a 2 night stay but I was very surprised housekeeping didn't pop in to take the garbage and recycling (it was full after the first day's shopping and food). - Lastly the floors are disgusting. I wore light colored socks the 2nd day we were there and only had my CLEAN NEW shoes off in the room.. my socks were almost black they were so dirty. Positives since I hate leaving this negative of a review: - Bed was comfy, surfaces & linens in room appeared very clean - Stay was quiet, no issues with noise over night and the heat/cooling system has a nice steady fan - Breakfast had good variety and varied from one day to the next. - Staff smiled, greeted me and promptly called a taxi when asked. - There's a big playground across the road... if you feel comfortable walking around the area (I didn't)
I had an incredible stay here. The girl who checked us in at the desk whose name escapes me, and Scott, were both wonderful. The location is central to everything and our view of the gardens was beaufiful. I appreciate a green view in a city of buildings. Our room was excellent and immaculately clean. I'm going to stay here every single time I'm in Toronto. I loved it.
Location is great, especially for LGBTQ travelers because it’s so close to Church St. Staff is friendly. Breakfast is meh, typical hotel options and quality. Our biggest complaint was the paper thin walls, never in my life have I been in such a noisy hotel. you can hear EVERYTHING. also, overnight parking is $45/night and this is not disclosed until after you have booked a room.
I am very dissatisfied with my experience at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Toronto Downtown, I would not give this hotel 1 star and definitely not worth staying at this hotel. Detailed reasons provided below: - Me and my guest had gone out for the day during our visit, upon our return back to our hotel room we noticed that our door was kept unlocked and open by the house keeping team. We addressed this matter to the receptionist and Edwin Marroquin (management) immediately. However there was no empathy or concern shown, nor any follow up from any member of staff. This made our stay unsafe as anyone could have entered our room or taken our possessions. - Upon booking the hotel through Agoda, it was advertised and imagery was shown that a swimming pool was available at the hotel. However upon arrival, the receptionist had advised that no swimming pool was at the hotel. This is misleading information to providing to customer. - Limited vegetarian food options; breakfast is served on paper plates and cardboard cutlery. First time to have experienced this at any hotel and its a concerning environmental factor.
The staff is very nice and responsive - couldn't ask for more. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but very very small. If you are staying as a family, I recommend calling ahead to ensure you are booking a room big enough - we have 2 teenagers so it's a challenge to stay in a regular room. If that isn't an issue for you, the rooms are great. My only real complaint is that the elevators are absurdly small and slow. It is a bit further from the touristy stuff than many other hotels but still well located. I do not recommend this hotel to wheelchair users. It might technically meet accessibility requirements, but it would be a hassle for most wheelchair users, I think. Otherwise it is a great option for visitors to Toronto.
