The Windsor Arms Hotel consistently receives positive feedback for its elegant atmosphere, attentive service, and high-quality afternoon tea experiences. However, recurring concerns regarding pricing inconsistencies, pastry quality, and outdated facilities are evident. Recent reviews highlight both exceptional service and occasional issues with value and upkeep.

Nothing short of wonderful! Our waiter Andrew was attentive, and just great! The food was much more than we could possibly finish. The room was cozy and lovely. I want to address the cost..........It was worth it! It isn't just a meal, but an event! We will make it a yearly event!

We celebrated Valentine’s Day at Gatsby with my friends, and it was truly a wonderful evening. The interior is absolutely beautiful — elegant, warm, and full of classic charm. It creates the perfect atmosphere for a special celebration. The service was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. We felt well taken care of throughout the entire night. There was a live jazz/blues band playing from 8 PM until 1 AM, and they were absolutely incredible. The music added so much energy and soul to the evening — it made the experience even more memorable. The food was delicious, and we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was. No one felt like the prices were excessive or unreasonable. Overall, a fantastic place to celebrate, enjoy live music, and spend a beautiful evening with friends. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful and classy hotel with kind service and kind staff! My mother hadn’t been in 25 years so I took her to the pink themed afternoon tea on family day, we DID NOT stay in the hotel FYI. They were very busy! Unfortunately, I think we were forgotten because we weren’t asked for our order until 20 min after seating and I had to flag a waiter down. Then it took 1 hour to receive our finger food. I think it was a one off situation because everyone else were greeted and served in a timely manner. Though, all things considered the food, tea and mimosas were very good. The waiter was very apologetic and was kind serving us. We will be back and for the jazz night they have too as it’s a beautiful hotel. Hoping it was just a one off mistake by the kitchen and staff. Will retry again as it was an overall beautiful place with great food and tea.

Rooms were nicely decorated but do require a refurbishment (cracked tiles, vanity cracked, grout in bathroom and pool area needs to be redone) Staff, including doorman were very helpful and friendly, they really made us feel welcomed. Dinner at Gatsby was nice and bartender and waiter were very knowledgeable and friendly. Afternoon tea was really a disappointment (again). Thought I’d give them another try (because tea used to be very good at WA) but the quality was not there and the price is too high for what is being offered. Had their “Pink” tea in honour of Valentine’s Day, which is $30 more than their regular tea, but other than adding pink food colouring to the food, there was nothing extra to warrant an additional $30 for this tea which is normally $65 and now $95). Cucumber sandwich was fine, but what used to be a smoked salmon sandwich is now added to a piece off waffle, but who wants to eat a cold piece of waffle. The chicken salad with hummus tastes exactly like deviled ham, it was inedible and the scones were dry, did not taste fresh. They included a smashed roasted potato with short rib on top (which I thought was a very odd thing to add to an afternoon tea) but noticed short ribs were offered on their winter-licious menu so I guess it’s doing double duty and showing up on the afternoon tea menu as well. The amount of jam and clotted cream (cut with mascarpone) was about a teaspoon, barely enough for one scone. I’ve had tea several times now at WA, it’s not improving. As much as I love this hotel, they need to improve their afternoon tea, and do a refresh on the property to get back to a 5 star rating.

Tried to come to high tea with my fiancé to celebrate our engagement and it was a horrible experience. The tea was running about 30 mins late and we were left in the lobby, when we were finally got seated all the staff were rushed and stressed and since there was no music playing all you could hear was all the other tables complaining. We ended up leaving because we didn’t want to waste our money on a lack luster experience. They really put a damper on a special occasion, the host looked like she was about to cry and they were out of about 15 teas. Would not recommend, go to royal York instead

One does not expect to require a ledger, a clerk, and an advance retainer merely to take tea. I attempted to reserve the Tea Room for a perfectly modest gathering of fifteen—hardly a society gala—only to be told that I must either pay for the entire group upfront or have each guest RSVP individually, with no guarantee that we would even be seated together. A group, it seems, is only a group when it comes to payment—not experience. Adding to the confusion, we were informed that fifteen guests was too small to warrant a private room and that we would therefore be seated in the main Tea Room. And yet, somehow, the same group is deemed large enough to require full prepayment and considerable administrative effort on the part of the guest arranging it. One struggles to reconcile the logic. I was also told to expect a follow-up phone call regarding the reservation. Several days passed. No call came. Eventually, I had to chase the matter myself, at which point it became clear that the reservation had either been forgotten or never properly communicated internally—hardly reassuring when one is being asked to remit payment in advance. For a hotel that prides itself on refinement, this is remarkably ungracious. True elegance begins with service, not invoices. Being asked to collect funds, manage RSVPs, assume all responsibility, and then presumably still be expected to tip for the privilege is not hospitality; it is unpaid administrative labour. If arranging tea is this needlessly difficult, one can only wonder what the rest of the service might be like. Toronto has many more accommodating—and frankly more affordable—places that understand good manners cost nothing. I hope the Windsor Arms revisits its policies around group reservations. Until then, I would suggest taking one’s teacups elsewhere.

I had afternoon tea at the Windsor Arms Hotel and it was a wonderful experience. The pastries were absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and there was such a generous variety to enjoy. I especially loved the wide selection of teas available. There were so many options that it made the experience feel thoughtful and indulgent. The atmosphere felt elegant and relaxing, perfect for a slow afternoon treat. Service was warm and attentive, which really elevated the whole experience. I would definitely recommend this afternoon tea to anyone looking for something special in the city and I would happily go back again.

This hotel is very beautiful inside and out. The door man is great and the staff were nice. However, charging for a bottle of water 6.28 and saying it is part of the mini bar is a scam. I took photos before and after and there was no water there. They have one bottle of water to the left away from it. Beware of charging scams for this hotel. The staff are very nice but this. On top of that there was a hole in one of our blankets and the bathroom had run down water over the wall and the bathroom flooring cracked. There was something on our floor that was white. I would have loved to stay at this hotel again but never again. It’s a shame of the character and charm of this hotel and how they scam charge. Do not touch anything on the table if you ever stay there they will make up charges.

TOTALLY MISLEADING PRICES FOR AFTERNOON TEA! My daughter booked the afternoon tea for my birthday based on website prices for midweek. THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE SITE TO INDICATE THAT HOLIDAY PRICING WAS IN EFFECT!! I was informed by management that the OpenTable confirmation would indicate the price. IT DOES NOT! If I was concerned I should have looked at the menu prices and potentially walked out after making a 1.5 hour trip from Barrie. He also stated that they have the right to increase prices without disclosing those prices as it would ruin the experience. What nonsense! Instead of $65 per person they charged us $95. A total ripoff. Will never return.Take your business to the far superior establishments in Toronto where pricing is clearly indicated.

We got married at the Windsor Arms and couldn’t be happier with our choice of venue. The hotel is superb with outstanding service, incredible food and beverages, and a staff that is both friendly and attentive. Whether as a wedding venue or simply a place to stay in Toronto, I can’t recommend the Windsor Arms highly enough. It’s truly exquisite!
