The Yorkville Royal Sonesta Hotel Toronto receives generally positive reviews, praised for its excellent location, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. Guests consistently highlight the hotel's convenience for shopping and exploring the city, especially those seeking a central base. However, some concerns exist regarding inconsistent service, higher-than-expected fees, and occasional cleanliness issues.
Excellent location with great shopping just down the street and an underground station just one block away with a direct line into downtown. Room was very spacious and well appointed. The only small disappointment we had was the hotel restaurant isn’t open on Sunday and Monday nights but there are other options locally and the bar does serve some food as well! Overall very good!
Had a staycation with two adults and cats. Chose the Sonesta because of its pet friendly policy. It didn’t disappoint. The staff and service was wonderful. It’s clearly a great place for families and work travel. It’s an older building but redone. Ordered room service and loved it, especially the roasted chicken on salads. Ordered it twice. I wish it did have a fridge to use.
A very nice hotel right in the heart of Yorkville and across the street from the ROM. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Green P parking is underground and there is easy access to the hotel from the parking garage. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Mini bar and room service prices are quite high, but that's to be expected at a 4 star hotel in downtown Toronto.
We stayed in this hotel for a month and we chose this hotel due to its close location to my husband’s work place. We booked a big room as we wanted to stay long time and we needed space for our luggage. The location is great and you have access to subway station and shopping mall and grocery stores and restaurants. The service was not what I expected from a four-star hotel in this location, the front desk depending on who was there had different attitude and was mostly not helpful. For example we were told that even bronze member guests can have late check out, while upon our checking out we asked for late check out and they refused that and we were told for any hour we stay after 12 we should pay even though we were silver member and stayed for a month there! Or another time I approached the front desk to get my delivery and she told that her colleague has received it and she doesn't have access to that room while as I got to my room another guy called and told me to come back to get my parcel and the lady gave it to me and even didn't bother herself to apologize for the inconvenience she made for me! Another thing that bothered me was that the cleaning time was not fixed, sometimes they came at 9:30 A.M sometimes at 3P.M. While usually in hotels that I had been it is between 10-12 and this hotel in that time of the year was not too crowded or too big to manage this service and as I had to work from my room this bothered me and they told me to put the not disturbing sign but when I put that they didn't come later for cleaning. And with respect to cleaners the cleaning was not satisfactory, and you could see stains in towels and sheets! The good part was the swimming pool which was not crowded so you could enjoy swimming with the view of the CN tower but the locker was not good for leaving your belongings . The food was quite good but in-room dining costs you both tax and service and in-room dining charge. I wish they could behave better so we would go there again but for sure I won't suggest it to other friends neither.
We came for the Mariah Carey x Willy Wonka holiday drag brunch and honestly had a great time. The theme was so fun — Sucka Queen was our host and kept the energy high from start to finish. All the queens were amazing, and the whole Willy-Wonka-meets-Christmas vibe made it even better. The food was good and came with pastries and really nice blueberry scones. Drag queens were entertaining, and the servers were super friendly and attentive. We also got bottle service, which was reasonably priced for a brunch event like this. We loved the show, the theme, the performers, and the atmosphere. Definitely recommend if you want a fun drag brunch in Toronto.
This is my Second time attending a Drag brunch at the Yorkville Royal Sonesta hotel Hosted by the Amazing and Talented Sucka Queen!! The Royal Sonesta staff is very friendly and always make you feel welcomed and the menu is always top tier, I’m always leaving feeling Satisfied and happy!! If you have the chance to attend a drag brunch, I highly recommend it at the Royal Sonesta! ??
We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were fresh, clean, and beautifully appointed, which made our visit extremely comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast each morning with generous portions and everthing was absolutely delicious. You can truly tell that the staff cares about their guests, and it makes all the difference. Highly recommend.
Great central location, so close to so many eateries, shopping and ROM. Came in for a conference and was blown away at the catered food. Each and every meal deserved 5 stars. I would definitely come again. Only suggestion is to provide better TP considering how much the room charges are. Surely they can afford better quality
This hotel is truly luxurious — you definitely get what you pay for. It was the perfect base for exploring the Yorkville Exotic Car Show on Father’s Day. To save a little, we brought our own breakfast of granola bars and made good use of the in-room Nespresso machine. The concierge was excellent, helping us find family-friendly dinner spots. The pool was a bit too small for us, but the sauna in the exercise area was fantastic. We opted for valet parking instead of self-park — more expensive, but given the stress of Toronto traffic, handing over the keys to the friendly valet was worth the convenience.
The location is fantastic. My room was really nice, well appointed, on the courtyard. This gave me a pretty view, and a lovely bay window, with a window seat. The king size bed was fabulously comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful. I didn't care for the carpeting in the hallways it was kind of ugly which surprised me, and the tiles in the bathroom were not very pretty either. But the bathroom is huge and very comfortable. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed Sundays and Mondays and I had wanted to eat in the hotel Monday night. The restaurant is cute, but unfortunately my meal was a bust. However the manager went out of his way to make everything right. I ended up just having a soup. But there is a waiter working there who's absolutely fantastic and fascinating to talk to. So, all in all a nice place to stay. You cant get a better location. Also, very convenient underground parking , self parking or valet available
