Recent reviews highlight significant problems with room conditions and deposit handling, impacting the overall guest experience.
Worse Than a Motel, Priced Like a Luxury Hotel !! Do not stay here. My experience at the Executive Hotel Cosmopolitan Toronto was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. For the premium price they charge, the level of service and quality is completely unacceptable. I have no idea how this place has a 4-star rating, unless they are using bots to post fake positive reviews. Here is why you should avoid this place: Dirty Rooms & OLD Towels: The room was dirty when I arrived. Even after housekeeping supposedly "cleaned" it, it was still disgusting. Dingy Balconies: The balcony was completely uninviting, covered in grime, and clearly hasn’t been maintained.A ggressive Hidden Fees: They nickel-and-dime you for absolutely everything. Expect an extra charge for every basic amenity. Dead Atmosphere: The bar and restaurant were completely closed during my stay. Useless Spa Hours: The spa jacuzzi is closed entirely on Mondays and Tuesdays. On the days it actually opens, it shuts down at a ridiculous 5:45 PM. Deposit Hostage Situation: After checking out, they held a massive deposit—double the amount I actually paid for the room—for another 3 to 4 days. This place is a total rip-off. Save your money and sanity and book somewhere else.
While the location is great and having a kitchen and laundry in suite might be nice, there is currently construction going on right outside the front doorstep of this hotel. The building across from it is completely gutted with junk abandoned inside of it so my view from the 15th floor was a creepy abandoned building. I could just see the tip of the CN tower off to the right. The room was not very clean in spots (mirrors smudged with handprints, couch not vacuumed) and just generally felt grubby. The flooring is nice but there are some older finishes that just make it all feel worn out. I could have lived with a lot of the above especially considering it was a work trip on someone else dime, but then I tried to go to sleep around 1130pm and...the construction crew started up working!! They had a loud obnoxious vehicle running down there directly below my balcony on street level from about 12 midnight until 3am. The windows did not block any of the sound and it was hands down the worst night I have ever had in a hotel. I got maybe 3 hours sleep in the end. I talked to the front desk staff about it the next morning and they only had excuses and no apologies at all - when they were charging $600+ per night!! No discounts, no nothing. Oh and the restaurant there is not open...and someone else I was there with for a work trip had ants in their bathroom. Would not recommend this hotel until they get their act together and the surrounding construction is over.
Had a quick, but amazing stay over the weekend. Room was clean, smelt nice, and had a great view on the CN tower. My only complaint is not having bedding in the room for the pull out bed. Called down and someone brought it right away so that made the experience a lot better!
WARNING - Avoid at all costs This hotel is a 2 star masquerading as a 4 star with 4 star prices because of its prime location. I have given up staying here on continuing business trips, as it's been under heavy construction for months now with no end in sight. The hotel has only two elevators, neither of which are currently working. Due to a water leak (pipe burst) in November, both were shut down and major 'renovation' repairs to 'enhance your experience' began, and since then, only 1 of 2 elevators has been working. This alone is frustrating, but the sole working elevator frequently breaks down (today is an example, I just had to walk down and up 22 flights of stairs). No elevators working at all. Zero possibility of this working for those with accessibility needs. The front desk's excuse for this happening is that 'insurance is taking a long time to fix the elevators' and that 'someone keeping their door open might be causing the other one to stop working'. As a guest paying hundreds of dollars a night for a stay, this is unacceptable. I don't know if it's related to the aforementioned water pipe burst (which they are claiming is a 'renovation' rather than an accident), but the lobby has been completely torn apart; walls, floors, front desk reception - they are operating off of makeshift picnic tables while construction is ongoing. Today, the entire building reeked of rotten eggs. I don't think the hotel is offering discounted rates because of all this mess, nor are they (to my knowledge) informing guests in advance of the severe inconvenience they can expect upon arrival (including a not insignificant chance that no elevators will be working, forcing you and your luggage up the stairs). I would avoid until you have ensured that the ongoing elevator problems have been resolved and the ongoing construction (the lobby currently looks like a bomb went off) has been completed. That said, the advertising practices the property is engaging in with regards to accepting reservations is misleading at best, and to me it's quite problematic given the circumstances. I would avoid if you can find a property in the area at a comparable price. It is certainly not what's advertised.
We stayed at this amazing hotel this past summer for 3 days. We were unsure due to our the mixed reviews, but I’m glad we stayed! It was so easy to keep busy in this area. The staff here were so friendly and helpful. They had no problem taking the time to talk to us and hear about our days adventures. Comfy beds, fairly clean rooms, a great atmosphere, plus an amazing view. Overall this place was a 10/10
Our experience here was not good. The rooms were not clean, bathroom was gross, and the refrigerator had an odor. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Our fire alarm went off in the night and they had to come remove the alarm leaving us without an alarm in the room for 2 day. I would not recommend this place.
The location of the hotel is amazing, I felt safe walking around alone at 11pm and using my phone. The staff was phenomenal, the GM was so sweet. I was celebrating my birthday and they put a little treat in my room. The view from my room was amazing too! I could see the CN Tower from there. I had a wonderful time. ?
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!! If I could give minus 10 I would. You'll see many negative reviews about the cleanliness and staff, believe me they are ALL true. They hotel STOLEN my room deposit, and told me it was refunded, refusing to look into this. I shared bank statements, proof of funds leaving my account but there was excuse after excuse. I have been back and fourth with the hotel for the last month being passed from person to person with no help. They've continually LIED to me about speaking with their 'accounts team' but its just delay tactics, and I still have no refund. I've now been completely dismissed and still do not have my money. They are THEIVES and are not interested in helping. I booked 2 room for my parent's and I, the rooms were dirty, the beds weren't clean, the windows and units had finger prints and marks all over them. The staff are completely and utterly useless. I would spend a little more and AVOID AVOID AVOID at all costs!! I never ever leave reviews but this situation was an absolute joke. You many be looking at this hotel as a good money saving option, but please do not be fooled. I just want to warn people what they're signing up to.
It's a little on the older side, so the rooms aren't in the best condition, but they are fully equipped. For the price and location, having a bachelor style apartment is awesome. It was a short work trip, but if you were there a little longer, the ability to wash and dry your clothes in suite is awesome. A kitchen with range, dishwasher and microwave is useful and cooking utensils are available by request. At the time of writing, there is no restaurant or bar as mentioned by the hotel, but they are renovating and putting their own in to replace the vacancy left by the previous restaurant. Friendly and accommodating staff at all hours through the day.
Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience during our 4 night stay. The Executive View Suite we booked for 500CAD/night had a beautiful view, but the bedsheets and towels had stains, the bathroom sink was clogged, all the handles in the bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) were very flimsy, and the shower had spots of mold. The staff was friendly when we brought this to their attention and moved us to another room at a 10% discount. This second room seemed cleaner, however the bed was uncomfortable, and we did find a hair in a bowl in the kitchen cupboard. In both rooms, the doors were squeaky and only closing by pulling/pushing very hard. Sound isolation was also quite poor, both inside the building with noise from other rooms, and the city noise through the windows. Neither of the rooms had black-out curtains which meant close to daylight brightness in the bedroom after the sun comes up. The TVs in the rooms are supposed to have chromecast so you can cast streaming services on the TV, which is a nice feature, but it unfortunately did not work. This wasn't a big deal, but the way it was handled by the staff was not very professional or honest - there is an HDMI device that needs to be plugged into the TV for chromecasting, and our room didn't have one in the living room. We mentioned this to guest service as soon as we noticed, and after 2 days of us asking about it and staff claiming somebody would install one in the living room asap, they just moved the device from the bedroom to the living room, which we could have done ourselves immediately when noticing (we didn't because of an anti-temper device). Overall, the hotel is nice on the surface and in a good location, but even the discounted 460CAD/night were honestly excessive and not warranted at all for the lacking quality and uncleanliness we experienced.
